raptor idle problems/ jetting help!
#1
my raptor seems jetted perfect with my yoshi pipe and snorkel removed, but I cannot get it to idle just right, it either is too high and revs down or too low. where are our air screws? underside? what is the stock air screw settings? which way leans the air screw?
what is the other jet other than the pilot and main?

dsEATER,
If you are looking at your carb so that the main jet is on top, the air fuel mixture screw is at the bottom. I'm not saying this setting will work for you, but is working for me. Turn the air fuel mixture screw clockwise (carefully) until seated, then back it out 3 turns. This dialed my raptor in perfect. Let me know how this worked for you.

turn them in and count the times it turns then back it out till that setting and go 1/8 till you get it right, discount auto parts and auto zone sell screwdrivers called small stubby that work good, the other jet is a power jet, don't mess with it is what i have been told but it does make you wonder if you should try going up one,but since you increased the gas that the motor gets you should increase the air on the air screw

dsE,
The idle air adjustment is on the bottom of the carbs and they are enclosed in the small shoots, inboard of the large (enclosed non-adjustable) shoots. Turn the screws all the way in (clockwise) like listed above, and come out gradually on both; back and forth until good idle is achieved. The stock recommendation from factory to dealer was 2.5 turns on the left and 3 turns on the right...this obviously could vary with piping, so just try to make the right one a little heavier (further out) than the left, (if I'm not mistaken, that's the one supplying 2 valves. I had to adjust mine after just putting on a pipe. Take your thumb idle screw, (which just moves the butterflies more open or closed) to less than half of the setting and see if you can tune with it there...then you have more adjustability later. Ofcourse, the only right way to do it is a warm engine and with it running, so buy short screwdrivers like BadRap said...lg jewelers work good...watch the HOT PIPE! Hope it helps...Anybody got a different or better way, jump right in!

I took off my carbs to get to the air screws, my left one was 3 1/4 out and my right was 2 1/4 out I turned them both in 1/2 turn, seems better. Plug still black on the outer edge may go with 25 pilots instead of 27.5's I am running. I also dropped the needle all the way.
How in the heck are you guys accurately turning the air screws with the carbs intact? I used a small screwdriver and still rough.
