Need Help with my YFZ 450

Ok, then I better take it in and have them adjusted, I think I will wait until it starts to warm up though. I do not plan to ride it in the winter much so my preference would be to have them adjust when it is atleast 40 degrees or above.

The valve adjustment shouldn't matter for ambient air temps. The engine will probably be the same temp as the shop anyway. If you are taking it in better to do it soon as many shops in the north are going to pick up business from everyone looking to get their stuff tuned up for spring. April is just around the corner!!

Good point Scooter! Any of you guys adjust your own? I was told that I better have the shop do it, but I found a good detailed right up on at YFZ Central. I am machanically inclined so i thought that maybe i would give it a shot?

I got a quote from the dealer at $250! So that isn't going to happen. So if I do it myself I am going to wait until it is warmer, because if I adjust when it is only 10 F outside I will mostlikely be out of spec when the motor warms up. Maybe I am ****?

I don't think that will be the case... Besides... you might as well take her apart now, when you're not gonna be riding it... instead of during prime riding season...

Probably. If the cam mod is not done yet maybe this will be a good time to do that? I need to get my battery issue worked out first. Taking it to Batteries Plus tonight to get checked. If it is bad I may just pick up a CBR 600 battery?

$250.00 is way out of line. You should be able to get valves done AND cam mod for right around $100. It is an all labor job, there are no parts involved. If you do it yourself, just take your time, follow the tutorial, and make sure not to drop anything in the motor! Might want to save the 6 pack for a reward when you are done, at least the first time.

It will be hard to save the beers for after, but as long as the buddies are not over I should be ok.
Battery update, battery tested at batteries Plus and they say it is good. WTF? Why is it turning over so hard then?
