Default hars to start in cold weather

also quadsport i bought a rebuild kit for mine off ebay and i noticed the needle was longer than the original so i went back to original needle and white plastic washer and solved that problem. hope that helps. the difference is about an 1/8 of an inch. my e clip is on the middle position would that affect it much on starting and choke to move that. i dont know how that works. i know the lower position is leaner but in what range would it be all through the throttle or just idle. im not sure what stock position is. does the enrichiner only affect starting because the bike runs great from idle to full speed when you punch it.

The enrichener, will effect all ranges of throttle movement..idle to wot. Its a separate circuit which isnt dependant on throttle position.
The needle is only used from about 1/4 throttle to about 3/4 throttle. The clip position wont effect idle at all.

ok thanks i was working on it tonight and i pulled the plug it looked a little lean but was not blistered it had black around where the threads are and the arm was silver. the porcelin under the electrode was white like it was brand new. that was after about 30 min riding in the snow. i moved the clip on position richer and turned the airscrew 1/2 turn in. runs great. still will idle great no fluctuation or anything for several minutes then just die but start right back up? if i pull the airbox lid while its running it dont change performance does that seem right? shouldnt it make it leaner and backfire when you give it gas. this carb was all screwed up when i got it and now i think im getting close.

Removing the air box lid should make it very lean. How clean is the air filter? Overoiled?
If removing the lid doesnt change much, then Im thinking the enrichener is probably not sealing well, and is adding gas all the time.
