Bartman: I had the quad for sale at one point, but realized that people were having trouble getting them, so i decided to keep it. I live in jersey so I bought it at the local shop around two years ago. If you are interested email me and I will find the number of the shop and maybe he can ship you one. showar94@yahoo.com.
Cdaleracer: The quad handles exactly like a quad. I tighted the rear slip diff to make it a solid rear axle add to the rear quad effect. It is very hard and frustrating when learning how to drive it do to the fact that the rear is so tempermental, you actually have to feather the gas and take turns with slides in mind. I ended up buying the remote with the ABS, traction control, kill switch, and other pointless extras on it that helps with controlling the quad a little more. The rear paddles are definitely the way to go. The .12 engine with the mip pipe is great too. About keepin up with the traxxis; I do circles around them on flat pavement or baseball fields, and seriously throw dirt (with the paddles) about 15 ft. I have a nitro t-maxx as well and the four wheel drive and big wheels allow me to go places that i can't go with the quad. You will beat your brothers rustler *** with a t-maxx, (not an e-maxx.) So if your looking for a cool, different, and challenging ride, get the quad, if your looking to stomp, go anywhere and beat your bro's *** get the t-maxx. email me if you have questions.

You only option for the Kyosho Quad right now is electric, Unless you can find one on the shelf ...Kyosho stopped producing the nitro powered one. There were compliants of a weak tranny and under powered stock motor. Mine was prone to overheating. I did the OS 12 engine swap. Ended up going through tranny gears like crazy.
The other problem is finding parts....Most of the electric version parts should fit.

Anyone looking to see the quad...head over to towerhobbies...search around, and you will find it.

My opinion would be to get an actual rc truck with parts that are still available. Unless you have the extra money lying around...then get the electric version for a static model.

I have experience with the Tmaxx, duratrax maximum, rc10gt, HPI MT. I would say to go with something like the Tmaxx...It's a great backyard basher...and can be made to race. The rc10 is more geared towards the track...but still runs good on grass, etc.
There are a bunch of great trucks out there right now....it all depends on what you want to spend.

I will say that nitro trucks are very nice...bunch of fun, But expect to maintain one as much if not more than your quads. RC can get expensive....and addicting.

I did not know that they discontinued the kyosho nitro quad. Also I havn't (knock on would) gone through any trans? spur gears at all yet, and I have been running the .12 for a while. I agree with everything that sayitfmf said, except I would never go electric after having gas. And yes it gets very expensive and I can't say it's worth all the money spent, but they are definitely a good time. If you can't get the quad I would recommend the t-maxx, I talked 8 of my buddies into getting them and they are happy. Make sure that you check the frequency color and don't get the same as someone you know. Traxxis does this stupid thing where they only offer about 6 different frequency's causing major headaches between people with the same frequency color's (brown, blue, green, red, yellow, orange). thankx

I agree...after going Nitro, I cannot find myself running an electric....With the nitro engine you get almost 20 minutes of run time...electric...maybe 5-8 minutes.

The kyosho quad was fun...I think I was using the kyosho quad for things it was not intended to do. Thus, blowing tranny gears...I still have the quad...it sits on display in my hobby shop right now. Someday I am going to mold a banshee body for it.

I agree that traxxis does not ship a bunch of different frequencies for the tx. But you can still buy crystals if needed.

Right now...I am having the most fun with the Tmaxx....so far, the truck has been unstoppable. A lot of people in my family and my freinds all have nitro trucks/buggies...we have a pretty nice track built in my back field. With a deck to stand on and everything....too bad it's not big enough for the full sized quads.
I think that the Tmaxx is the only vehicle I have that might do well in the snow....But it has to snow before I can find out. This is strange...December 4th in Upstate NY...No snow in the forecast anytime soon.
