Last Christmas I asked for some advice on purchasing a Yamaha 450CC Grizzly with snow plow. I was concerned as to whether the 450 would be adequate. You all were very helpful and we went ahead and purchased one and got a snowplow for $79.

We just happened to have the most snow in central Utah that we've had since 1982. We literally were plowing my shop dirve and our driveway as well as 4-5 neighbor's drives every single day at times for up to 3-4 days! I just want to report that this great little machine did a wonderful job, never lacked for power and was, and is, a pleasure to use/drive. I've even ordered a case of 0W-40 Amsoil, Powersports 4-stroke for the next (3rd) oil change. Seems that if you pay an extra $10 you can get a discount and it ends up costing about $3-4 less than Yamalube 10W-40! Hope I'm on the right track, here. Also am stocked with Pure One oil filters, which I learned about here.

Thank you, all, for being so helpful! We love this ATV! (I could not find my original post, so had to start a new one). If I could figure out how to post a photo, I'd show you the snow.

The plow was one of the choices with the purchase of a Yamaha at Christmas last year. The special included either a plow, or winch, for $79 with the Grizzly. Had to pay $100 for installation, I think. That included the hardware, which I think, even at that, was a heck of a deal. I looked up the invoice and it was $69, not $79. We took the plow and are really glad we did, what with all the snow we got plastered with this winter. I don't know if the special is still going on, or not, but you'd have to buy a new machine.........maybe that's not too bad, either!

SRJ - good to hear! I love my Grizz 450! What is the Pure one Part # for the oil filter those OEM yamaha ones cost too #$%% much!

I set out to change my front and rear diff oil last night... the front was fine but after removing the rear skid plates and what I thought was just dirt from around the rear - it turns out that it was diff oil mixed with dirt! The Left side (as you look at it from the back) Diff oil seal is shot! :-( and the oil is a grayish - black... so not that much water got in their.... It never leaked enough to make a puddle which is GOOD News! Well thankfully it is March and the stealers aren't that busy right now... so I will be dropping it off at the stealer as this should definitely be a warranty claim.

I have this info. on the Purolator filter for my 450 Grizzly:
Purolator ONE filter
#PL14612 ----- (2 1/5" long)
#PL14610 ----- (3 1/2" long) ---> This is the one I bought from Fred Meyer for about $7, it was just sitting there on the shelf, easy to find.
I also picked up one of these at the local WalMart:
WalMart SuperTech ST7317 (3.25")
About $3, Made by Champion.

That's a bit scary, about the rear diff. oil, glad you caught it quickly. Good luck with the repair and we love this 450. Guess I've said that, huh? Thanks!

It doesn't' show the Yamaha filter on the SuperTech box, but my invoice for my first oil change lists the Yamaha 5GH-13440-20-00
