Default I Need help!

I have a raptor 660 and 2nd gear went out. I'm kind of strapped for cash and don't want to blow money on parts I don't need. I was wandering if anyone had an answer as to what the problem might be??? When it started to go it was seemed like I wasn't getting enough gas when it was in 2nd and eventually 2nd gear went out completely. It is like being in neutral when I'm in second. All other gears work though. My guess is that its either the gear box or clutches. I would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

it sound like the gear itself stripped. the only way to tell is actually crack the block and examine the gears, replace the stripped gear it will be obvious. i don't know if you have ever been into one these engines before, but if you haven't you should be really careful the motor will go everywhere when you pull it apart. GOOD LUCK.

It's the transmission gear. Common problem on the 660. You can rebuild the whole tranny for around $700 for the parts, or just replace the 2nd gear for around $150 for parts then whatever labor you have.

i have another motor for my bike the only problem with it is the crank. My buddy works on motorcycles and im not what you would call a mechanic as far as atv's go. Would it be possible to take the 2nd gear off the other motor and put it on the motor thats on my bike now?

Yeah. The only problem is if that other motor is a '01 it might have a weak 2nd gear also, but if it's good go for it. You'll just have to buy gaskets because you have to tear the whole motor apart.
