I've always had 2 strokes and ran aviation fuel because it was cheaper than Trick Racing.Is it bad for the valves or is it to early to tell?

 

Without modifying the compression ratio of the Raptor you do not need to run a high octane fuel.

You won't see a performance gain by just running a higher octane fuel.

Aviation fuel vs. Race gas is another discussion. Basically I wouldn't run aviation fuel.

 

Never run more octane than you need to. Run only what you have to. Maximum power is produced right at the point of detonation. With the low compresion that the Raptor has you could actually get away with 89 octane, but i wouldnt recommend it. Octane levels only resist detonation, nothing more. Higher octane it not "cleaner", nor will it make you engine "perform" any better. So in review, higher octane is not needed unless it is needed. Most 4-strokes do not require anything higher than 93 unless you go over 11:1 compression, and i dont think there is a stock quad that is that high, or no where near that high, most are around 9.2:1
