Koopa,
It will be another 9 months before I get out of Iraq here. Going on midtour and rebuilding the raptor. The Wife said she is down with the rebuild of the 686 with a new carb setup along with a Dyno. Now that's what I'm interested in. I don't think I'm tuned in right.
Now with the 450. I'm staying pretty much stock with the engine. I'm planning on a HotCam and a good port and polish. <span class="FTHighlightFont">I'm also looking at the single LTE exhaust system instead of the dual to cut down weight</span ft>. The big thing kicking my butt these days is weight with the Raptor. So I'm looking at the HypoTech Carbon Fiber beadlocks first. These weight alot less then stock rims. Also look at a +2 +1 light weight A-Arms setup with some Elka Quad rates. Also the Maier Plastics. Question to You. How much weight difference is there between Stock plastics and Maier? I'm trying to get this 450 as light as possible. Of course the headlights and tail light are coming off with some air scoops on the front.
Not really sure what would be next. I'm sure after a few beers I can come up with ideas. Til then I'll be here in Iraq typing away hope this place goes away as quick as possible. Take Care and Ride Hard!
I'll be updating my photos soon.</end quote></div>
what 450 you looking at with duals?????

Sounds like a couple of sweet setups. As for the maier plastics, I don't know really know what the weight differences would be. I do know that they are made very well. My old 400ex had after market plastics and were cheap as can be. They had clips that were formed into the plastic that broke and they would NEVER line up right. They would scratch deep from the slightest tree limbs touch.
The Maier's were on mine when I bought it and they are much, much easier to work with than the cheapo's. They are much stiffer and when I removed them I was shocked that they were so light. I was expecting much more given the thickness of them. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to buy a set of plastics.
I'll check out that myspace page tonight. It's blocked here at work. : /

Check this website out. I'm loving the LTE's. My buddy has the setup on his 450r and it's tight! Here is a YFZ 450 with dual LTE's.

They also have the single exhaust for the YFZ.

The yfz only has one exaust port.... so That setup they are picturing has to be for the raptor???? And if you add duals, you'll just be adding wieght....

they make duals for the yfz, it shows a pricing for them, they just have to split the pipe at the mid pipe to get the dual cans.

Dauls are only good if you have 2 exhaust ports other wise its kinda of a waste. I had dauls an one of my 660s and love them but for my yfz i went with hmf because they are priced good and and give you plenty of power. also raptor010 if your are getting an older yfz youll want to to do the oil mod if you put in any kind of piston or big bore.
