Moto 4 Questions, Please Help
#1
My cousin just got a 1986 Moto 4., dont know much about quads.
Was wondering what tranny oil to use in is a 4 speed manual with automatic clutch?
What should we premix it at?

no premix and its a 4stroke so the tranny and engine share the same oil, just use a JASO approved motorcycle oil, valvoline makes some atv oil at walmart and autozone i think, just done use regular car engine oil, if you have to use a diesel truck oil like Rotella 15-40 that stuff works pretty good in quads also.

They made some 3 speed automatics in the little ones,... 80 cc or so. There were some 4 speed auto's also in the smaller size models.... moto4 was almost everything offered back then, from 80cc on up.... It's possible to install a 100cc 4 speed auto in an 80cc badger frame also. It is possible that the engine is out of a later model 4 wheeler too. I'm not sure what years are what, but That engine swap thing came to mind on this discussion.

Ok, so the VIN indicates it is a 89, the engine is 200cc so if they guy is correct and it is a 4 speed, no reverse then the engine would have to be newer then 89?
