Warrior Ignition Bypass?
#1
The ignition on my wifes Warrior crapped out yesterday but I have no idea how to bypass it on either a toggle switch or a push button switch since there are 4 wires coming off the back of it and the wiring diagram makes no sense to me!
Ebay wants anywhere from 20 - 50 dollars for a new ignition (money I don't have) so I need to do a ghetto bypass for now.
Can anyone help me with what wires should go to what?
I can provide the service manual to you in pdf format if you need.
Thanks in advance,
4W

Welcome to the forums.
Well, you may not like some of the replies this post will generate. Not to say this isn't a legitimate request, but justly so, a bit of skepticism will accompany any replies.
While I can understand the need to save a few bucks, the same information could cost someone an entire investment. For the safety of your investment, as well as anyone else here that has a Warrior, I'd suggest just biting the bullet and get the ignition. The bike you save may be your own.

Like Scooter said... best not to post this kind of info on these forums...
Ya need to bite the bullet on this one...
Also, I do kinda find it hard to believe ya don't have enough $ for a new one, considering you'll spend that much on a couple fill ups for the quad...

So what are you guys suggesting? That the quad is stolen??? I have an original reciept from the dealership in which I bought it from 5 years ago which I would be happy to show any of you, come on by my door is open. Wow talk about jumping to conclusions (typical of the internet I suppose).
I just want to bypass it becasue A) I am not working right now and my mortgage is more important then a stupid key. B) The quad is never in a situation where it can get stolen, it is locked up in my fortress of a shop, then chained together with 4 other bikes. C) I would like to go out next weekend but anything we buy on ebay here in Canada takes 2 weeks to get here.
Anyway, I can see that this community is not going to work out for me and I will end up getting banned for speaking my mind or for that matter posting a relavant help post like this one. Whatever. Later.

i would have to agree with Hebs. but when gas is 4 bucks a gallon, 2-3 tanks you can buy one. maybe try to clean the electrical connection really good. careful how you by-pass it, cause if you do it before the key, you will always have power to the solnoid with or without the key in and your battery might go dead after a while.

Sorry you feel that any help in keeping a fellow riders quad from being stolen is considered jumping to conclusions. No one has suggested it was stolen, I in fact said this could be legitimate. Just as we have the power to jump to conclusions, a thief has the power to ask how to steal.
Now who would be more offended, a person asking for a legitimate response and given reasonable answers, or a thief?
But I guess if I'm going to be accused of things I might as well go all out.
How is getting a quad running more important than finding a job and paying the bills?

was up man. no worries on what the others think. if you did wrong on getting the quad then its on your soul not mine. but i do know how it feels to want to ride but your machine is down. and being out here on guam, out in the south pacific i too know how long things get shipped out here. or its just too damn expensive for me to get the part..... so whats not to say that any other rider in here stole there quad i'm just doing this because i love the sport and any help would be good help....so here goes... first disconect your battery.to bypass the starter switch get a 14 to 20 guage wire. 3 to 4 inches long. on your rear left side. theres the starter rely assy. it has two post facing up and one wire is red leading to the fuse. unscrew the bolt on the left side and wrap one side of the wire to it and screw back on the nut. on the other side of the wire strip it about 0.5 of a cm. dont connect it to anything. connect the battery back. when your ready to start turn the key on and put the switch on run then (with the quad on nutural) make the other end of that wire your just rigged touch the negitive post or the other post you connected dont make the wire connect too long because it gets very hot after a few seconds.
i got a used warrior from my father in law and it had a starter button issue and thats how i riiged mine it works good. only bad side abou it is yu have to get off to do it. and the quad has to be on nutural to start. let me know if you run into any problems on it .............. hope it works for you.

i wouldnt recommend splicing and cutting and wires ither. there are so many wires what if you cut the wrong one or what about the DEAD BATTERY issue. my "RIGG" type solution will still use the key and the off switch and not have to worry about the battery. and you just showed him how to steal a quad...................pretty smart there .........
