I just bought a 450 grizzly over the weekend and would like some ideas of what I should do to it before I ride it outside of just my yard. I know in the past I would buy something new and just go out and thrash on it and then later regreted it for not doing what I am doing now. For instance when I bought my dirt bike I wish I would have put an hour meter on it before I rode it.
Also, please list out some mods that you have done and some things I need to watch out for on this quad.

I recommend taking a wrench to all the bolts, I lost 2 of them within 100 miles... I also recommend replacing the 45 degree grease fittings on the rear suspension arms with 90 degree grease fittings... for the $8 it will cost for the new fittings, one thing to note as well, get some 6mm stainless washers as you might need to "clock" the grease fittings so you can get the gun on their

For trail riding and the occasional mud pit -- you picked a good machine! The quad in my opinion does everything well except go much faster than 50mph... but again.. I didn't buy my quad to haul a%% I think you will be quite happy with your purchase!
Well since it will be a 90 degree zerk, you want to have it "pointed" in the correct direction... Example; one of 90 degree zerks I put on point into the rear hub - pretty hard to put the grease gun on! so by simply putting a washer as a spacer - you gain the ability to have that zerk fitting point in a more favorable direction by changing the point at which the grease fitting is tight
