Default Kodiak VIN Number

if you're sitting on it, it's on the left hand side behind the front wheel... Even with skids you should still be able to see it... Just follow the frame from the back of the a-arm guard towards the footwell... if you get to the plastics, you've gone too far...

How old does this thing look? Does it have round headlight inserts, or the newer style eye looking ones?

Default Kodiak VIN Number

it has the round headlight and it looks older i won't think it is a 2000 or newer...i was told a 1998, but asked friend about some parts he said it doesn't list a 98 to be 2wd

Default Kodiak VIN Number

Just like everyone said, the VIN is on the left side of the frame. And it's on the side of the tube. I had to lay on the floor to see mine. I had a 97 Kodiak and the number was JY44SHA00TA003***. The Kodiak had a large displacement at 400cc. The Big Bear was a 350 and 2 wheel drive.

Throw a picture out there so we can see what you have.

Thumbs up I've just found my VIN number...

I've just bought an assumed 1996 Kodiak and had the same issue of not finding the VIN. Following this thread advice, I used a cleaning solution along the lower bottom round rail on the left side behind the front tire. I finally found the light imprint with a flashlight. It was farther back, directly under the foot-gear shifter and pull-start mechanism. However, I'm not positive on a couple of faint digits due to the frame paint job it received at some point.

It's in the location that everyone stated but it's not very deep si if you have any dirt or rust it may be hard to see. I had a hard time trying to get a clear rub when i went to register mine

If you seating on the atv and look on the left side it will be right behind the front tire. Standing on the left side look between the right side of the tire and the fender it will be straight back on the frame.
