I read the same thing somewhere else...yami put in for emissions testing on the new motor, and somebody got wind of it that either worked there, or had a friend there. I'm curious to see what they use it in...It would be nice to see a beefed up wolverine type quad, or a in-betweener of the grizz 450 and grizz 700. With the YFZ 450 and Raptor 700, they pretty much have the sport market taken care of...but you never know.

I'll believe it when I see it. People have been claiming EFI on the YFZ450 for 4 years and we have yet to see it. Personally I don't think it will increase their sales if they did switch, which is why Yamaha is still sticking with their proven carburator. EFI isn't going to get me to buy a new one or convert, the carb works absolutly great for me and for the majority of owners.

It would be nice if they put it into a midsize Grizz/Kodiak. Leaving the size of the machine close to same as the present 450 but having more grunt. It would have more power without going to the big 660/700 Grizz frame size.

That plus if they call it a 550 it will have more displacement (558cc) rather than less (421cc) of the nameplate like my 450 does.

The EFI thing is just a sign of the times with emissions and everything else going to EFI.
