As far as I'm concerned Yamaha dropped the ball when they failed to update the Shee and then dropped all there 2 strokes.Buy used why in the hell would ya want a 8100 dollar raptor when ya could buy a used 06-07 save thousands an for a few hundred put a digital speedo on it an still save money?</end quote></div>

For one you can thank the us goverment for outlawing 2strokes alltogether (not Yamaha) as of 08 except in verysmall bore class AKA chainsaws 2nd Ill take the Raptors handeling over speed any Shee any day!

P.S. If you hurry you can still buy a 08 Shee in Canada http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/pro...s=78&group=A|1&LANG=en after that they are realy all gone!!!

I dont see the point some of you are making about the price issue not being a big deal between the 550 and 700.
$800 may be pocket change to you, but you need to realize that is a 10% lower price! You are not dealing with a $20,000 maching here. $800 is a big difference.
And it will sell very well due to this for the same reason the 350 Grizz IRS far outsells the 450 Grizz. PRICE

And speaking of pricing. Many are complaining that Yamaha raised the prices this year. Sorry to say but that will be very commonplace for 2009 with all the manufacturers. Freight charges that the dealers add to your OTD price will go up a bit as well.

At least we are dealing with the Japanese here. Our Austrian based KTM jacked the prices up on their 450XC and 525XC quads by $1000 this month!!!!!!!! If any of you wanted a KTM, you should have bought before last week.

A couple hundred bucks more for a 2009 YFZ doesnt sound so bad now does it?

I agree - that $800 can mean a lot to someone who is on the fence about the 700 or the 550. I also feel that the 550 fills the void left between the 700 and the 450. If I were to buy a 4x4, the 450 wouldn't have quite enough power for me, and the 700 would probably be a bit much - the 550 is the perfect choice for someone like me. AND it's in a great chassis, WITH power steering! While Yamaha has always impressed me with their leading edge, risk taking style in the sport quad arena, they also have to make smart choices in order to keep making money, keep selling units, and to keep making me awesome new toys! in 1989, honda raised the price of the 250R from 3098(88 model) to 4098 (89 model). it was supposed to be a deterrent they claimed. but it was also a smaller production run. 89s are the hardest to find.

yeah all of them raise the price every year. doesnt mean they will get it! i never pay msrp on anything. never will if i can help it. i was one of the first in the state to get a 450R and i ididnt pay msrp back then and wont now on anything. the 's' in msrp is "suggested" !
