I'm thinking of going to look at a used '03 Raptor this afternoon.

What is the lowdown on these?
Did they have tranny problems? Any problems?

What are some important areas to look at on this particular used bike?

THANKS

Nothing out of the ordinary. Just check the standard used quad items.

The Sport 400... I ran across it in new condition and haven't had it long. In the 6 weeks I've had it, it's been ridden more than the previous 9 years. It's awesome in many ways.... but the holdin up part.... yeah, that's what concerns me. This is my first Polaris and I am not sure how the whole setup would stand up to me. I'm new to it, but it seems there is a lot to wear out and break. It's not a Honda or Yamaha and seems much more complex.

I thought I would hate the auto tranny, but I don't. With this machine, I've finding it's 6 of one, half dozen of another... when compaired to other machines.

However, I do not like the oil injection... risky & smokey.
I don't like the extra weight.
The brakes could be stronger... (you need them more)

And I DO NOT like the front end geometry and suspension setup!

But hey, there is no perfect stock bike I don't guess.

To update, I passed on the Raptor 660.
Not because of the bike, but because we couldn't seem to line up a mutual time for a test ride.

I bought a Honda 400EX last week instead.
So far I'm under-impressed...
Time to mod-quad it I think.

I might have a good pair now though...
Each one sure is totally what the other is not.
