Default New Brake light unit ??

Just installed a new brake light complete unit on my grizzly. The light works when the headlights are on but does not funtion as a brake light it doesnt get brighter when the brakes are depressed and will not light up when the headlights are off when depressing the brakes.

There were two wires, blue went to blue, and black went to black, the snapped in together perfectly. is this just how they operate or is there something else that isnt connected properly?

Did you check the bulb?

Just curious if the filitment for the brighter portion could be bad? Mine had three wires...Odd to think that it would only have two, unless it's grounded to the frame.

i would think that it would have to be a 3 wire light for it to be a brake light. one wire would be the ground, the second wire would be the tail light and the third would be the brake light.

thats what i was thinking as well, but this is the OEM yamaha brake light, the original unit only had two wires, and this one was the same way.... ordered it from bikebandit.com

no, when i got it, the light was not working, and the bulb had ceased to the unit and I couldnt get it out, which is why i just bought a whole new unit. so im not sure if it was working properly to begin with.
