Default Oil question (yes another)

I have a 01 Wolverine.... just purchased. Manual recommends Yamalube...... I was just going to pick up some 10w-40 from Autozone.....

Whats the diff? Yamalube, Amsoil and others are $$$$

the Yamalube contains additives that are required for your clutch to operate properly. traditional motor oil will not work. it will cause the clutch to start slipping then eventually burn it to bits.

If you keep proper maintaince up on it and use conventional oil with the same high rating as yamalube you will be fine!

Default Oil question (yes another)

In a nutshell, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Polaris, CanAm and any other of the manufacturers don't have their own oil refinery. They get it from somewhere else. So somewhere out there is the same oil, but without the manufacturers name on it.

And at a better price.

Look at the manuals requirements. That's the type of oil you need. Not the brand.

if your 01 wolverine has a clutch you can use any "motorcycle" oil you want. when I put mobil1 4t 10w40 (4-stroke synthetic motorcycle oil) in my raptor not only did it feel like i released additional power, the gears change easier now.

the oil has to meet or exceed the "JASCO" approval.
