Default ATV Identification

I just received a project Yamaha 2x4 atv. I believe it is a Timberwolf, but am unsure of the year. The guy before me painted over all the fender covers and such and there are now visible numbers now. The only identification I have is the code stamped on the motor, 4BD-063778. Does anyone have a way to help me look up more information about this atv, googled for a while and didn't turn up much. Thanks.

I would take the motor number to a Yamaha dealer and see if they can track it. Idealy you could take the VIN and ask a cop or DOL to run the registration which would provide the year, make and model. Check the frame once more for the VIN to make it easy. I suppose DOL or State Patrol might be able to check by motor number but Yamaha is probably the best bet on that.

Itll be easier to check with the VIN on the frame, i know sometimes they hide it, the VIN on my Big Bear was on the side of the lower frame and i could barely read it

some of the VINS are under the seat and some are under the lower frame rail by the foot rest. i do not know why they do not put the VIN on the main neck of the frame. oh wait, that would make sense.
