I would appreciate any & all suggestions/solutions:
The keyswitch turns motor on(to start), but it does not kill it when "switched" to Off. (The killswitch doesn't either). I am assuming that the keyswitch is bad, but with the killswitch not working either, I wonder if it could be something else.
I hate to resort to "trial & error" with an ignition switch priced at $81.00!

I would check to see if the ingition switch has been bypassed. It sounds to me that someone ran an extra wire to do this. I would check for that first. If the switch is indeed bad, the light would either always stay on or always stay off. Look for an extra wire run to your battery.

Thanks for the reply/suggestion...I will check for a bypass wire, but:
(1) the "on/start" light turns on when it should be & goes off when key is turned off.
(2)Since neither the ignition switch nor the kill switch shut off the engine, I have to stop it by "choking" it.
Despite the start light working properly I am pretty sure the ignition switch is bad but didn't understand if the killswitch works "thru" the ignition switch as well, or if both need replaced.

I didn't get to mess with it today but will check that again tomorrow... I had tried to "kill it" with a jumper wire between the kill switch & the ground(used the ground side of the battery once and also the engine itself)but to no avail...
