I had an old waverunner for a summer...It was fun.
But I do not live on a lake and none of my riding buddies had a jet ski. It got boring fast riding around by myself.
Then the trailering and storage. Speed limits on lakes...other boats.
Maybe I'll try again when I hit the lottery.

I have a 96 xp also and I'd have to say although you can catch some air on it they tend to land hard, my hx and superjet much more foregiving on landings so I go reall big on those 2.

Hey Bingo1, I have no regrets about getting rid of my skis and getting the boat. It is much more "family friendly" as we can take along picnic gear and coolers and such. Ours has the twin rotax motors and it is pretty fast.....top speed about 50-52 mph, and so far it has been reliable. We bought our boat used last year, so the "merc" was not an option. If I had a choice I probably would have gotten a newer (2000 on up) one with the "merc", as these could be serviced at both SEA-DOO and Mercury Marine facilities. Also, the merc allows you to use other brands of oil and not void your warranty where the SD requires use of SD synthetic oil.....can you say $$$$$? But drive both if you can. Our boat seats 7 people, and has good storage.Oh yeah, spring for a bimini top....you won't regret it! ENJOY!

I've got a 96' Seadoo Speedster. 170hp twin Rotax in a 14' boat is a blast. We also have a 1999 Seadoo Challenger 1800 for those days when everyone wants to go.

I have a wife and two girls ( 12 and 14 )needed a boat. It had to be fast ( 55 to 60mph for me :-) and be alot of fun, tubing, water skiing,360s at 55mph.....(yes I can!!!) and light to trailer anywhere!
So in 1999 I picked up a YAMAHA LS 2000
seats 7 (very nicely)
TWO 135hp jet drive motors (270hp total)
only 2000 pounds(put it on and off trailer myself)
and is alot of fun!!!!
That and my RAPTOR this is going to be a great year!!!!

Got a 00' Yamaha XL1200, thing is the best in the bay and in the ocean! I wonder how i had as much fun during the summer when i didn't have 1. Mine is a 3 seater but if you are riding two or one go for the Gp1200. They both got 155hp. Both do around 58-60 topped out.

'97 GP1200 and '98 SeaDoo XPL carried on the same trailer as my '95 MasterCraft ProStar 205. Now I just need to figure out how to carry the Raptor at the same time for when I really wan to go out and play :>
