i own a banshee and i know its power im building a gocart with a friend and first i was thinking a banshee engine but couldnt afford it. then my friend a few blocks away had a 92 yamaha 650 vxr for sale 4 $75 that didnt run but i heard it run a few months back so i said hell $75 4 a 650 twin 2 stroke almost like a banshees hell i can fix it and if i use this it will rip so i went 4 it. lucky 4 me wen he changed the plugs little rocks kept the spark plugs from seating right so it was losing compression i removed the rocks put the plugs back in and it started up just fine. me and my friend thats building the cart with me r happy as hell cuz we got a runing engine 4 $75 not $1000 like we first planed. i was bored and looked up what kind of numbers i get with this motor and the only thing thats keeping me happy is its $75 cuz it has a very weak 50 fing hp how can that b my shee with 300 less cc makes almost the same power. and this is not just some guy saying 50 cuz hell i was thinking like 70-80hp but a company that works with these things every day. now sorry 4 all of u that think this shouldnt b here but the engine is very close 2 my banshees engine. does any1 on here also think that the hp numbers r wrong 2.

 

Okay, well first I want to tell you that you should try and break up your paragraphs a bit man. I'm not griping and trying to be a school teacher I'm just saying it cause you'll get many more reply if you do.

Banshee's make nowhere near 45 hp stock. I'd say 32-35. After pipe/filter/jet they make around 45.

As you know 2-strokes are very mod able. The slightest change can add alot or take away a lot of hp. Different designs can make huge differences on these engines.

same way as a 600 cc snowmobile can make 100 hp and a 600 cc atv motor is nowhere near that , like polaris for example who make all three machines with 600 cc motors ,the sled motor is close to 100 hp the jet ski @60-70 and the slug of the bunch around 45 or so they put the power where its needed a 100 hp stock 600 cc atv would scare most riders

 

A quick answer is reliability. A PWC is expected to run a lot of it's time 100% throttle where as a quad or snowmobile might only see 100% throttle 10% of it's life.

why do you care what the number says. my go carts 5hp and iv had it to 40 with some geto mods on it.

But you cant use a jet ski engine unfortunately in a go cart. so dont waste your time. They are WATER COOLED. you wasted 75$
you cant run them for more than a minute or 2 without over heating without water.
don't bother putting git on you have no way to cool it.

actually it is very simple to do that. you have to get a pump of somekind to circulate water through the motor. you have to puta radiator on it some where to keep the water cool while running.

i actually never thought of doing that. i put a motorcycle engine in go cart(gs 650) and i put one in a golf cart(250 ninja). going to the next hole in golf take about 15 seconds instead of a minute or two. and on the plus side you get all the attention at the golf course. i was going to put a bombardier motor(xp motor which puts out around 80hp) in a 14ft canoe but i couldnt get the canoe becuase the guy didnt sell it to me =(.

the go cart goes around 100(its one of those racing frames) and the golf cart goes 50 because we HAD to gear it down.(lots of power instead of speed) we also had to extend the go cart 2ft!!!!

 

also the jet pumps on the skis take away around 15% percent of the HP. so you will have around 60-65HP.
