YFZ 450 Pros and cons
#1
could someone tell some of the pros and cons of a 450 YFZ im thinking about buying one and around how much should i expect to pay for a used YFZ? Is it almost better to get a 660 raptor or does the price go up much more than the 450. thanks

Dont get a 660 raptor! the suspension sucks! They need alot of improvement. The yfz will cost quiet a bit more though. the yfz is high maintaince and takes a little used to to ride slow on the trails. If you are new to the sport or want a good trail quad i would go for a 400EX or a kfx/ltz400. They wont be near as much maintaince and will be more trail suited and priced quiet a bit less

Just my opinion, but I prefer the YFZ over the 660 for just about any type of riding. I like to go fast though. About the only place a 660 is better is the slower family type rides, the all 1st gear and under 15mph stuff. In that case the 450 will overheat and be more of a bear than the torquey raptor. You will need to be more diligent with oil changes and engine maintenance, but the rest of the chassis/suspension type stuff is basically the same regardless of what sport quad you ride.

Well i rode a buddys 450R 2 weeks ago and was impressed at the power but i didnt like the suspension on it and the kick start either i like electric start. Ill be doing trails in dunes style, hills, and family rides as well but there's all types of riding to do in TX. So i want an all an around quad. i want to spend no more than 3 grand but want to a ideas on what bike to purchase. Thanks

To me the yfz450 seems to have a lower center of gravity than the 450R. An aftermarket set of rims makes both 450's feel more stable by widening the stance. Both the 450R and the yfz are great quads. You won't be disappointing with either.
