Default 2002 Yamaha Grizzly

I have a 2002 Yamaha 660 Grizzly that will not start. Was running fine a few weeks ago. I have already changed out gas to fresh and changed spark plugs. Will not hit on starting fluid. I checked the plug by putting it into another 4 wheeler and it started first try. What is my next trouble shooting step.

Make sure the gas is on?

If it was, turn it off and open the drain on the carb to see if it's filling up. Close it and then turn the gas back on. Does it sound like wants to start? Does choking it make a difference?

Has the weather changed dramatically recently? Is it stored somewhere that gets cold? Perhaps your valves need adjusting.

You could get some starter fluid, pull the air filter and spray a little directly into the intake and then try starting it...

We need a little more info on the symptoms...

I have checked the gas we are good there. It is stored in my garage temp should not be an issue. I have checked spark plug and it is firing. I have already tried the starteing fluid in the breather. It did not hit on it either. Do you know if there are inline fuses or sometype of sensor in the ignition wiring. I bought it used and it didn't come with an owners manual.

So you've hooked up the plug to the plug wire and then held it against your frame to verify that you have spark?

Does the engine sound like it has compression when its trying to crank? Or does the engine sound like it is spinning over faster than normal. Either way you should check your valves. If you know you got spark and fuel the only thing missing is compression.

It sounds normal when it turns over. Do you know if there is anymore electrical parts that would cause it not to crank. The motor sounds like the on/off switch is in the off positon.

If your sparking at the plug then all electrical systems should be ok. Check your valves, it shouldnt be hard to do.

If you are sure that there is "GOOD" spark then electrical should not be the problem. Since you were spraying starter fluid I assume that there is enough fuel. So the other parts of the equation would be a lack of air or too much fuel. If the quad was flooded then you might not get a kick. If the air filter was way clogged then maybe that could cause the problem also.
