No way - make THEM fix it. It is the dealer's responsibility. I would ask them to fix it or you will contact Yamaha yourself. You have a 6-mo warranty that covers stuff like this. I won't put a wrench on mine until the warranty is up. Of course, if you mod'd anything on the engine side of things, you are SOL. I also heard that there are 2 part numbers for the boots. I got mine in October and have had no problems.

By the way, some companies like Acura really punish dealers for bad behavior. We had a problem with one dealer, and called Acura's 1-800 #. The dealer we bought from said that the bad dealer would probably lose 25% of his car allotment based on ONE complaint. Yamaha may not be as extreme, but they will appreciate hearing about it.

Kind of foolish to blame a dealer or mfr for jetting problems when running an AFTERMARKET PIPE now isnt it?

The carb boot thing is BS, and I wouldn't stand for it, but the backfire is yours/WB's responsibility!

I expected as much from a Polaris owner. I am sure that everyone here has more than one quad that required jetting due to a pipe.Yet no other quad blows the carbs off. Besides, i have heard of it happening on stock Raptors. It is Yamahas responsibility to fix this problem.

tell them that there is a service bulletin and replacement for the clamps or boots, they are external to the engine and should not be effected by a pipe. Then jet it yourself, I would suggest getting the Dynojet kit.

Wait - Diesel Pro is right and Party Foul on me. I didn't see the WhiteBros exhaust in the original post. Changing the exhaust definitely effects the jetting soooo...the dealer is not to blame. Once you go into mod space, everything is on the clock. The only way I could see making the dealer fix it on their nickel is if 1) they installed the WhiteBros exhaust and 2) they screwed up the installation. Even if the Raptor boots on your Raptor aren't the newest available, the best you can hope for is the dealer hooking you up with a set of the replacement parts on the cheap. Sorry BOOGIEMAN.

Yamahas obligation to fix driveability/running problems begins and ENDS with setting it up for conditions and OEM parts.

But what do I know, I must be an idiot for buying a Polaris.

The second quad on my sig line is going down the road. Who knows, maybe a Yamaha is in my future?

My friends gotta Raptor that does the same thing. He runs it about half-choke in the winter to keep the carbs on. Then my cousin was on it, turned the choke off, and it backfired and blew the carbs off. Its happened about a dozen times, and the left-hand boot finally ripped. It was supposed to be under warranty but the stupid b*tch at the dealership still charged him 30 bucks for it. Them guys at the dealership don't know what's goin' on.......Oh, and the woman down there really is a b*tch

HEY I KNOW WHAT YOUR GOING THROUGH. I'VE BEEN THERE MANY TIMES. I HAD MY RAPTOR SINCE AUGUST 23RD AND HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE CARBS UNTIL THE END OF NOVEMBER THEN IT BLEW THE CARBS OF EVERY TIME I RODE IT . I PUT HOSE CLAMPS ON THE BOOTS THEN IT BLEW THE BACK OF THE AIR CLEANER APART. OUR DEALERSHIP HERE IN FLORIDA IS EXPERINCING THIS ON ABOUT 30 % OF THE RAPTOR'S THEY SOLD. SO FAR THE INTAKE VALVE ADJUSTMENT AND CARBS TOO LEAN HAVE BEEN THE PROBLEM. MY RAPTOR WAS AT .001 CLEARENCE ON THE INTAKE VALVE! SHOULD BE BETWEEN .005-.008. NO PROBLEMS SINCE THEN. BY THE WAY YAMAHA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND YOUR DEALER SHOULD FIX THIS WITH NO QUESTIONS ASKED. ALSO REMMBER THAT W/B E SERIES LEANS OUT THE JETTING EVEN FURTHER. I HADE THAT SAME PIPE AND GAVE IT AWAY. BOUGHT THE YOSH. AND RUNS EXCELLENT. GOOD LUCK
