im in the market for a new bike, but im caught between the 09 raptor and the yfz 450r. ive always had dirt bikes growing up so its gonna be my first quad. on top of that i havent played in the dirt for quite awhile. Im 28 years old 6-02 and 220 lbs. I like to think that i'll wanna ride aggressive but who knows. im kind of leaning towards the 450r. your thoughts?

I would throw a leg over both, and I have. I also am 6'2" and find the ergonomics of the 450 tight for me. You will not be disappointed with either but prefer the 700 big bore.

im also 6'2 and 220 lbs man and i have a 660R Raptor that i wouldnt trade anything in the world for. i can say the new 450 are nice and tight, but i personally enjoy the raptors. I think parts are easier to find for the raptor and as turtler put it, if you ride them both, you will feel big difference in torque on the 700....

The 700 will give you all the performance you will want starting out on a quad. Plus there are tons of hop ups if you need more power. Great power through the the rpm range. I do dunes riding, the cinders, mountains, and all over the desert. It does everything well.

The biggest diff between these two is this. The 450 is a racer. It's race engineered and race designed. The 700 is desined for non-racers wanting the power the racer has.
The 450 is light, much better for jumps, can be thrown around, and likes to go..go....go. If you want to ride aggressive you can't do that on any machine quite like you can on the 450. When you want power out of her you rider like you stole her and she'll turn around and say thank you sir can I have another!
The 700 is a big bore so it's real torquey. It has power whereever and whenever you want it. The 700 seems more comfortable because the big bore does alot of work for you.
Personally I like the 450's. Just because, as you said, I like to ride aggressively. You can do that on a 700 but, it just don't give you the I'm in charge feel you get on the 450.

They both fly well, The 450 is for track and they 700 is for trails and dunes.
