Default Dirt BIke

i know this aint a dirt bike forum but i have a 2000 yamaha yz426f i bought it used for $1500 it was $1800 anyways my bike is making a like clicking noise where the piston is you can hear it when the bike is running does anyone know the problem and if you do is it alot of money to fix

could be timing chain,piston slap.or bad piston bore in piston. or valve adjustment my be way off. loose ..if its a 4 stroke

yes its a four stroke would any of what you said be expensivee to do if its one of those

ys its not cheap , if you can do your self , it will be cheaper.. looking about roguthly 500 bucks 2 do yourself. plus bore and head work if it needs it

alright i will have to get it fixed near the summer time because i got it before last summer and near when we put it away start making that nosie and its loud to
i hope it aint more than $1000

does it go away when u raise the rpms a little? might just need a valve adjustment, those are nice bikes btw.

yea might not be valves then, most likely piston slap is what your hearing or something, does it make any smoke at all?

hmm hard to say really ive never worked on that bike but if i had to guess, it seems like maybe its got a worn out rod.
