moto4 stator testing?

i have a moto4 225 and i think the stator is bad.the problem im having is the thing will run if i unplug the voltage regulator.if the volt\reg is plugged in then it won't run worth a crap.so i bought a volt\reg and it didnt cure the problem please help me figure this out.if someone has the ohms and resistence for the stator it would be great.thanks

yup, check for loose connections or a short in the ignition system.
If you want to test your stator, disconnect it from the regulator and run the bike. With a VOM set at AC check for current between each stator lead. It should read between 50 and 60V AC. Then turn off the machine and while the stator is disconnected, test for continuity between the stator leads. If either shows continuity between each other or to ground on the bike, the stator is toast.
