Default banshee or 250r

Hello everyone,

I was a member on here 2 or 3 years ago so its been awhile but im back and trying to get back into the whole atv thing.

I had a warrior back when i was a member but sold it for money for a new car. Any ways as the title says banshee or 250r im trying to decide which one to get im basically riding on open farm land and some trails and back woods. As you will see i dont have alot to spend on the price of the ones im looking at but i think they are great deals and i could probally talk all of them down.

the banshee is a 1991 w/ pro circuit pipe/silencer k/n filter numara power pistons +6hp new crank ported/pollished boyseen power reeds andvanced ignition key new coil. barnett clutch msr clutch lever.razar 2s alum. rims dual row axle carrier swingarm bearings shock linkange bushings a-arm bushings renthal bars new chain 15tooth front sprocket
$1800
OR

and im trying to decide on 2 different 250r's
1987 Honda 250R w/ Maxxis Razr tires on polished Douglas rims, AC nerf bars, Paul truner pipe, 2 brothers silencer, newer greasable poly suspension bushings, swing arm skid plate, motor/frame skid plate, Works performance shocks, factory effects seat cover with no rips or tears
$2200
OR

1987 250R w/ Rebuilt motor bored .90 over, New Wiseco Ultra Light Piston w/Rod. 4New Tires, has a few cracks in the plastic, faded paint, small tear in the seat
$1500

sorry for such a long post and thanks in advance

my pick would be the first 250, those 250s have some of the best handling of all atvs, very durable, fast, easy to throw around, they look good also, the other 250 is bored 90 over which is kinda bleh, ull be havin to re sleeve it sooner then the others, i dont like buying used quads that have been bored over alot, and the banshee seems ok to but its just not gonna perform as well as those 250s will, specially where you ride.

for the kind of riding you described I would go with the first 250r as well, the 250r's handling on the trails and backwoods will make it out perform the banshee in those situations.

Good luck with which ever you choose.

I know I kind of have a bias since I own a banshee but with the mods done to the banshee I would probably have to go with it. Ask the seller what type of port job was done on the cylinders. If it is ported for drag racing then it is def. not the right bike for trail riding. The main thing I know about the 250r is that stock vs. stock the 250r is a much better woods/trails bike.
just my 2 cents

that's true that the 250 has better handling, but if want a better balance get the 400ex!

gotta watch it with some of those 440exs there prone to blowing headgaskets pretty easily if not done right. i like the 426 kits alot even the 416s are cool.

I just wana say i own a banshee, but for you your best bet is the 440ex. Good reliable quad, pretty fast. Next would be the 250r with less boring. Has more low end than the banshee, and is pretty quick. The banshee sounds like it has alot of work done to it, so you would loose alot of reliability. I have done everything on my banshee even port work just to be shure it was done right. I didnt bore the cylinders but I did have a good friend that works at a machine shop do each side .005 bigger than each piston. Point is that if your going to do work on a banshee, you have to do precise work to get the most out of them.
