The oil light came on when pulling a harrow last night (for about an hour in low) and has me concerned. I had just changed the oil and oil filter in the grizz hours before the light came on. I replaced the oil w/ 20-40 yamalube (2.1qt.) and changed the filter out w/ stock yamaha filter for that model. Should I be concerned or just figure that it was working hard so it got a little to hot?

 

It may have jsut been the heat. Have you tried it since it's been sitting all night?

 

Not yet, I am going to let it idle for awhile and see if the fan turns on or if the oil light would happen to come on. One thing I noticed is that the fins in the radiator are all bent over. Do you think that will make much of a difference? The oil light only came on once before when I was riding trails just after I bought it but after changing the oil I didn't have a problem till yesterday (2 year span).

 

Well I let it idle for an hour and a half and finally got the fan to run and no red light turned on. For now I guess I will call it a fluke.

 

Good to hear but ya, you need to get the fins cleaned and straight. That'll let more air flow.
