Default Best upgrades for an 08 Big Bear IRS

What are the best upgrades for the big bear? Any easy to install performance boasters to get alittle more power? I love the big bear but might be interested in some easy mods to get alittle more power. Any suggestions?

how do you like it? what do you use it for? i am in the market for a new quad in a few months, and the big bear 400 is currently at the top of my list.

I use it for hunting, working around our family farm(work pertains to hunting), and mud riding. For the price of a hunting/utility/mud bike I don't think it can be beat. 400CC is plenty of power especially how low the big bear is geared. Push button 4x4 with DIFF lock is insane and comes from factory with mud lites(prolly a $300 value right there). I found a camo 08 in the crate for a base price of $4904...the blue one was $4600. If you can find a new 08, yamaha has rebates going on those right now.

My dealer also had a green 08 grizzly in stock for $6500. The money for me was not an issue at all but i didn't feel i needed the grizzly. Too much electrics and crap that can break. I hate putting my bike in the shop. I like to work on things myself.

If speed is what you like the big bear prolly only does 35 or 40 comfortably. If you want huge tires put on it big bear again might not be what you want.

If you want a bike that stock off the showroom floor is a great hunting/utility/mud bike for an exceptional value than big bear is the way to go!!

Dang Yamaha should pay me for that plug!

im glad to hear its working well for you. i was raised up with honda and love them, but i have done all my research, and the big bear is everything i am looking for. i will not be racing it, and i also like the simpleness of it, yet the features like a solid manual tranny, diff lock, and marine-sealed electric connectors are all things important to me.

maybe an aftermarket exhaust and / or getting the carb re-jetted will help get some more power out of it for ya.
