Hey all, I'm looking for a new place to ride, that's somewhat close to Portland. I love Brown's Camp, but it's getting tiresome hitting the same trails over and over again, in the same riding area. Thanks.

Hey WarMachine,
I do most of my riding in the Trask mountain ORV area. Its outside of Yamhill, up near the Flying M Ranch. From Portland its a little farther then Browns camp, but not too much. E-mail me if your interested and need directions. I like it better up there because there isn't nearly as many people, but its still a fairly large riding area.

Rick, my e-mail isn't working right, but if you could post the directions, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Hey man,
I'd be happy to post the directions for you. First I need to know where excatly you are coming from. For one, so I can keep the directions as brief as possible, also so I can give you the shortest way there. Depending on where you live, there are a few different ways to get out there.
If you have ever been to the Flying M Ranch, you are pretty much there.

Rick, I'll be headed west on Highway 26. So if you could start from there, that would be great.

Mr45Auto, I've been to Jones Creek a few times, but those tight trails beat the hell out of me!

WarMachine,
OK, if your on 26 west bound you will want to take 6(towards Tillamook). Then get on 47 south bound and go into Forest Grove. Stay on 47 through Forest Grove and continue south, past the Hagg Lake turn off and through Gaston. This will take you into Yamhill. About midway through Yamhill there is an intersection(no stop on 47). There will be a sign there telling you that going left(Hwy 240) will take you to Newberg. But you need to go right onto Moores Valley Rd. Continue down Moores Valley Rd for about 1.5 miles. You will come to a sweeping left hand turn that Y's off to the right. Take the right onto Oak Ridge Rd. If you cross the bridge just after the sweeping left, you have gone too far. Continue up Oak Ridge Rd for about 3 miles. You will begin to climb after about 1 mile. When you reach the top of the hill the road Y's and turns to gravel. Take the Y to the left. That is Fairdale Rd. Continue straight down Fairdale. All along the way you will see Flying M Ranch signs(an M with two wings on it). After about 5 miles or so you will come to Flying M Road. Don't turn left onto that road, continue forward. After a short distance you will cross a brigde(Trask River) and start to head up hill. The very next left that you come to will be Trask Toll Rd(about 100yds further). Turn onto that road. You will see a large Trask Mountain ORV cooperative closure sign. Follow that Road till you cross another bridge. This will be shortly after you go through a open gate on the road. After you cross that bridge you are there. There will be a large open gravel area on your left that you can park and unload in. Then just go crazy! Most of the best trails are farther down Toll Road. They aren't marked or anything, you just have to keep your eyes open and go down the trails you think you can make in down! Have fun and good luck.

Rick

P.S After a hard day off riding its always nice to run down to the Flying M Ranch on your quad and have dinner and a couple of drinks. The Lodge is an experience and the food is great!
