Default Raptor Power

O.K., here's what I got. An 06' 700 Raptor with filter, pipe, TPI, stage II HotCam, and soon a high compression piston (standard bore). Am I just just chasing my tail here or will I ever get the 700 to hit fast and hard like the 450's that are out there? Will the high comp piston make that much difference? 95% of my riding is sand, fairly fast and stupid with the occasional hill shoot. Any ideas, thoughts, etc.?

What kind of pipe? Is it a slip on or full system? Stock for stock the 450's and the 700's are VERY close in power. Mine is an 08 and the heads are slightly different on the 08 giving it a bit more power and with barker duels, trinity intake, and PCIII I was beating equal modded 450's. This weekend was the first drag I ran with the new build which includes a webb X2 cam, a port and polished head, +1 intake valves, and a stock bore CP 12:1 piston and ended up being about 5 to 6 bikes against a modded YFZ with some engine work (not sure what all he had done, won't tell anyone). Before this weekend him and I were side by side at 300'. A lot also depends on the tires your running, in sand, if your running a V paddle and they are running a straight paddle like a hauler or extreme that is going to rob some of your acceleration also and give them a big advantage.

The straight paddles hook a lot better in the sand than the V paddles do but the V paddles turn a little better. I currently have sidewinders and plan on going with skat trak haulers or extremes. They are quite a bit more expensive but IMO worth it. The skat trak paddles are more rigid that the V paddles and tend to not fold over when you take off.

I used the V paddles for several years. I got a set of Haulers and will never go back to a V. Turning is slightly different but no big deal.

paddles make a world of difference. not only do the str8 hook more when they r a skat trak hauler they wiegh 4+lb less per tire because they are not molded. you should looking into get the quad tech shop 11.5:1 piston. its one heck of a piston for a pump gas person. also look into getting a dynatek ingition. i recomend getting one from high desert dyno because for a couple bucks more will include custom ingition curves.

btw where do u ride?
