yes, your tranny is shot. You will need to split the cases & replace broken gears or find another used engine to put in it......ebay has a good selection of parts & complete engines.

warrior engine, buy and sell ATV Parts, warrior on eBay Motors

Dont run the motor any more until you address that tranny problem, you will cause more damage.

If you had 1st and 4th,there was nothing wrong with your clutch, probably a bent or broken shift fork that won't allow you to access the other gears. Like the others said,it could be bad gears, have you checked your oil? lots of little metal bits may mean you stripped a few teeth off som tranny gears, and they are shot. It might be easier to swap out a used motor, as suggested, unless you don't mind pulling the motor and splitting the cases to get all the drivetrain out and repaired.

warriors have very durable transmissions i would be very suprised if you actually toasted gears, theres a good chance it might just be shift forks, or a shift cam or something...if i were you i would split the cases and take a look, then go from there, ebay might be a good place to buy some used gears or forks and such if you have to.

the top of the piston has a large amount of carbon on top, is this normal? the motor was using oil, typical for yamaha. when it wasn't ridden a lot when first started it would blow lots of white smoke for about 20 seconds. should i just get a new motor???

Carbon is from running too rich, or oil blowby getting cooked in the combustion chamber,if you were using oil, sounds pretty normal. Have the jug checked to see if it is out of round, and bore it to the next size, go with a 10.25:1 piston, that will give you a little more grunt, and still run fine on regular gas. You have it this far, just fix it, a used motor may have more wrong than yours, find the problem in the tranny, and if it is and easy fix, get that done, a piston/bore, fresh gaskets, and you are on the road again.
