Does a dent in a pipe affect anything?

Will a small dent in Toomey banshee pipes, one dent in one pipe not both, affect anything? like perfomance?

i am considering buying a set but one of them has a dent, but he said it doesnt affect anything and he raced like that for 2 seasons??

help me out

I dont see it affecting anything to much. It might make a bit of a difference depending upon the size of dent. If there is a hole it will definatly make a difference.

You can get the dent out by filling the pipe with water, plugging the ends and putting it in the freezer.

A small dent won't really hurt anything on a 2-stroke expansion chamber.

Yes, dents do make a difference. The pipe chamber is specially designed to reflect gases back into the piston chamber. If you dent the chamber, it will effect the efficiency of the pipe. If they are small, then don't worry too much about it.

I have seen a dent remover, which uses compressed air. You put two specially made caps on either end, pump it up to 50-80 psi, and gently heat the dent. It will come out. In a rare occasion it will rip, but it largely depends on the dent.

I would be cautious of the water method, as freezing water will break almost anything (rocks, frost, etc.) and it is tough to monitor or control. A good shop should have the dent remover and it shouldn't cost too much to do.

hey i will go with them and try them out, and check into removing the dent. if it is up in price, i will try the freezing method... thanks for all your help.
