Actually this will be my first ATV, so I haven't been out on the trails for several years. I used to do the CR500 thing years ago. There was a bunch of us crazies that would go out every weekend and find the biggest, baddest hill we could find and go nuts. Oh, the good ol days. We used to ride a lot, out near Core, Blackville, Maidsville etc. I live on the other end of town near Stewartstown, there used to be a lot of good riding out here as well, but a lot is being swallowed up by development. You can bet when I get my Kodiak I'll be out exploring some of those old trails. If things look good for some good riding I'll give you shout!! I'm getting mine mostly for hunting
on a friends property and a hunting camp in Lewis county, but I do intend on having some fun as well.

yeah JHAM, Deer everywhere up here. They usually bring a couple of nice bucks out of Coopers Rocks and the surrounding area every year. WVU, great school (have to say that, I work there). Looking forward to the upcoming football season, can't wait to see something different than up the middle, up the middle, up the middle, punt. Go Mounties

Sounds good. I live in the Summers School road area but I ride alot down near the *****ett's Fort area. Just some trails, utility right of ways and old railroad beds. Mainly slow riding with occasional mud hole to keep it interesting. Send me an email sometime-would be interesting to go riding with another Kodiak. By the way, which shop are you picking it up at?
Hey JHAM, what year did you graduate from WVU? I graduated in 1990 (seems like along time ago!) but am still hanging around!
take it easy guys

Holy cow-I didn't realize that the name of a local state park was a profanity! Sorry if I inadvertently offended anyone lol!
Let's try Prikett's Fort!

Hey HillHound lets watch that language!! LOL. Crazy isn't it. I haven't pick out a dealer yet, still looking for best price. Would like to get mine here, if the Motown dealer will do me right price. Wanting to get 2001 Kodiak 4x4 with winch and stay under at least $6000.00. Had a dealer in PA quote me a price with no winch at $5899.00. Anybody thats got a good price on one lately let me know. Would like to have some numbers to work on the dealers with.

You are right too. If I was the only one in the family that drove the kodiak I would also have a locker. But again the tight, narrow, twisty, slow trails I ride on would be a challange with a locker. For $65 I would try it anyway. Also I dont ride in the mudpits like in my pics everytime I go riding. But anyway to each his own and probably someday when I run out of things to do to the Kodiak I will add the locker. "Im always making something for the Kodiak." Im starting to work on a skid "bar" protector for the rear axle boot.

WVhunter, the Kodiak was my first ATV too. I rode my brother-in-laws dads for 3 years lol and decided it was time to buy one.

Just dug up my invoice from when I bought mine here at Morgantown Honda in April 2000. Final price was 5742 before tax with no winch. The dealer down in Nutter Fort said they would beat anyone's price but I figured it would be worth a small amount to just buy it close by. Hope this helps.
And Goodyr don't forget to tell everyone how all that extra stuff makes the Polaris (Xpedition) weigh 100+lbs more than a Kodiak 4x4.

This may be true, but after 15 trips to the dealer for repairs, you'll learn to love the Kodiak.

Rick

PS I'd take a Traxter over a Polaris in a minute. It has a mechanical front end. Not an electro/gizmo/oil filled attempt at true 4x4.
