Change the tranny oil often with yamalube. If you keep your quad clean it will last alot longer believe it or not.. Check the airfilter when you change the oil, if its bad Id buy a new one, I preferr the UNI filters but most people here seem to like the K&N paper filters. You shouldnt have to change the plugs often, just make sure you keep a couple with you when you go riding. Make sure you mix your gas correct. Every ride or two go around with a screwdriver and check for nuts and bolts that have rattled loose.. Mabe a new topend every year or so depending on how much you ride, but you dont need to worry about that yet..

Well, here we go again! I clean the air filter and chain after every trip. I ride at Glamis, sand is a real problem. I wash the bike, too. Annually, I change the oil, grease the joints, check the plugs and check the compression. I repair/replace as necessary. Every 2 years I change the coolant. I run race fuel (Coolhead 19cc domes) with Yamalube 32:1. I have a 94 Banshee and still am on the original topend. In my opinion, not an excessive maintenance schedule. I have fouled my plugs once because of my own stupidity. I over oiled the filter and caused the motor to run excessively rich. That was in 94. None since then.

With the stock filter, I cleaned and re-oiled it every ride. I now run the K&N GAUZE filter (not paper) with a outerwear which is cleaned every ride. I clean the filter as necessary, depending upon riding conditions. Usually about every 10-25 operating hours. With both the filters I check for any damage everytime I clean them. Usually get about 100-150 hours out of a set of pistons. About 1 season of riding anyways. Tires get changed with the piston (Incase nobody has heard that rule of thumb, If the tires are bald, the pistons are toast) Tranny Oil change every other ride. Grease everything after every ride, Clean chain (I do not use chain oil, as this just seems to make a mess and gum up my chain) Wash the bike after every ride. And of course new handle grips every year. I also do a complete overhaul of the bike every winter. I clean and retorque everything, check for cracks in the frame, ect. .Every 2 years I also put all new bearings in, change the coolant, and put new brake pads on and brake fluid in. Alot of this is preventative maintenance, And other than overheating it once, and losing a few nuts and bolts here and there, My bike has been extremely reliable. Oh and one last thing, handlebars usually 1-2 times a year (I bend them lots, and am to cheap to buy a set of pro-tapers )
