Default 1995 kodiak brakes.

I have a 1995 yamaha kodiak 400 4x4. it runs great and it tons of fun. But the brakes are horrible. You have to continually pump the front brakes to get them to engage and the rears take constant adjustment. Has anyone had any issues with the brake master cylinders going bad on those? And also, does anyone know if someone makes a front disc brake conversion or if the front disc brakes off of a newer model will fit?

I have a 1998 and the brakes are garbage. After messing with the a bunch of times I just left them. Its a semi-auto bike so I dont really need them.
