I have a 2000 grizz, and it has a 40mm carb on it, i do long trips and want to get better gas mileage. My buddy has a 98 big bear with a 2.5 gallon tank and he goes the same distance I go on a 5 gallon tank. If i drop 2 jets to bring it to 38mm will it hurt anything, how much top end power would i loose, and how much more better will the gas mileage get. I know i'm driving a 600 opposed to a 350 but i'd rather get good gas mileage than be able to beet everyone out there.
I also do not want to damage anything either.
Any educated responses would be great.
Thanks

Howdy...going down two jet sizes will make your griz run lean...hard to say if you consider burned valves and a piston as not a bad thing...I would look at gearing first or different clutch weights...I'm not sure if you can buy different crown and pinion gears for your diffs...talk to your local parts guy at the Yamaha dealership and see if anything is available...hope that helps...
