After all of the reviews, I find it odd that the 400ex has never beat the Raptor until now. Has Honda re-designed the 400ex? ATV sport is the same mag that said the Banshee is more powerful than the Raptor too....what a load of crap.
All you need is a 400ex rolling chassis....take your 250ex motor...slap it in...even MORE CONTROLLABLE POWER. Now that would be awesome.

Ya I totally agree with the shootout stock for stock the ex would turn better lap times because it handles alot better. With mods the raptor handles just as good so its up in the air either put your $$ into a motor on a ex or put $$ into chasis on raptor. The DS is way to wide I dont care what anyone says we put the ds650 and the quadzilla nose to nose and the ds was at least 4-5inches wider and the thing sits way to high and they run 4inches of sag in the shock. For open/dunes the ds would be a good choice but for woods no way! Plus its geared higher than the raptor is stock.

The honda won by .06 of a second. That is a very small amount. I own a Raptor and a 400ex. I dont think it is noticable. I think those times would be different if the raptors rear axle was 3 inches wider. So the rear was as wide as the front. In stock form the honda did win by .06, I would still take the raptor and get a wider rear axle. For the money I think you get more with the Raptor. Anyone want to buy a 400ex?

First off let me say that the Raptor is a nice quad, for its intended audience. But its time to be honest here, alot of guys who just shelled out some major dough on their Raptors don't want to admit the Banshee is faster.I have talked to more than a couple guys who bought Raptors and regret getting rid of their Banshees.Notice I didn't say "better" the Banshee is an old quad and the Raptor MAY handle better, but as far as sheer power the Banshee has more.I'm not a blo-hard i just won't jump on the "new thing" bandwagon,it has to be proven to me and the Raptor will not do so.The Raptor is more of an "ultimate warrior" than a "banshee killer".Thats not meant as an insult, it is just the truth.

It seems that everyone wants to bash the Raptor.Iwonder why.If you look through 10 different mags, you will get 10 different results.Different top speeds,0-50 times, lap times, etc.Dirt wheels in the dec. 2000 issue had a shootout also, and the raptor won the shootout.Lets face it they are all good quads, and have there own strong points and weak points.

Did you see the 0-50 times of the Raptor and DS compared to the much slower Polaris and EX times,it must of looked like total a mismatch. If it was not for the comparison being held in speed and acceleration confined areas like the MX track or tight woods trail the turn out would of been totally different. The next shootout should be held in a the desert, dune hills or even a logging road where the much more extra power can show it,s stuff.
