YFZ 450 vs. Banshee
#11
This is actually a hard question.. Obviously everything on the yfz is gonna be better for handling and such. Not only that the YFZ is pretty darn fast. They both have similar power numbers. The banshees power band cannot be compared to any other quad out there and once its in the zone is pretty much unstoppable throwing **** from the tires everywhere it is the roost KING!
Now Ive driven YFZ's and though they have more torque its still really doggy unless you keep the engine wound up a bit just a bit.
The seat on a banshee is way more comfy.. The yfz seat was so stiff any seat time was pretty much a pain in the *** LOL
The banshee engine can be rebuilt and modded for alot less than a YFZ but see no need for anything cept pipes really for a banshee if your a casual rider and for a yfz i probably wouldnt change anything
I cant believe i'm gonna say this but i feel the Banshee engine is actually more reliable.. except for fouling plugs that thing is absolutely bullet proof.
You can hold a banshee engine wide OPEN for so long its insane I mean just beat the living snot out of it and it begs for more.. pehaps you can do the same thing with the yfz but just from the feel of it I don't feel comfortable doing so specially with all the bad things that occur if you blow a 4 stroke engine vs a 2 stroke.
it's a hard choice for the same money you would have to take a yfz but around here you can get really nice fully done up banshees for less than a stock yfz.. alot of the ones I see on craigslist actually all have yfz shocks on them already.. good luck

I GUESS THAT JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT U ARE TRYING TODO.. TRAIL RIDE A 4 STROKE OR RIDE A MACHINE THAT ACTUALLY MAKES SUM HORSE POWER.... THERE IS NOT! A RAPTOR OR A YFZ450 THAT WILL EVEN STAY CLOSE TO MY 10MM CRANK 74 MM BORE CHEETAH CUB BANSHEE WITH POWER VALVE CYLINDERS ON ALKY... THAT RUNS 4.5'S @ 86 MILES PER HOUR ON 300 FEET/100 YARDS... ILL TAKE THA 2 STROKE BUT THEN AGAIN I LIKE TO GO FAST....

Banshee, now just the word sounds cool... and YFZR, sounds technical, and like a nasa code or some thing... Banshees had and in many ways still have their spot in the atv world, the 250s, Banshee, and Quadzilla rescued the sport in 86' & 87' when the government all but took are boots and helmets... which is better ??? my opinion says they are completely different Quads. i would take a yfz over a banshee on the mx track, but in the world of modding and dragging, it will never end theirs always some one fester.

I have a few friend that has a Banshee aswell, and they love's the hell out of it, but, and I mean, But they just told me they wished they had a four stroke, because keeping up with that power band on long trails are burning them out. They loves the idea of being able to lug the motor around on the four stroke through trails, and dunes. On a banshee you have to keep the power band up all the time , also 2 stroke has to pull over alot more then anyother bike to have cool down time to prevent over heating. YFZ look so much better on the track then the Banshee would. Banshee will embarras you when you see everyone with newer quads appose to that old looking banshee. But then again I won't one for drag racing only. Nothing but hill shooting for mines nothing else. good luck on your choice.
