Welcome! What kind of a quad are you riding now? As much as I LOVE Yamaha the Raptor 350 is a mediocre quad (in power) at best! With that sad they have been around forever before as a blaster 350 then a plastic an minor chages to become the Raptor 350.
If this were my money to spend I would look for a Honda 400EX or a Suzuki Z400 all three are excellent quads with the Ex being probably the best lower torque trail machine and the Z the speedster of the group. IMHO the Z is the better all around quad to have with a much better up to date suspension and ergonomics. If you can find a good 09 or newer they are Light years away from the pack with EFI and all new suspension! In you price range that you are looking for you should have no problem finding a good Honda 400EX and they will have unlimited hop up potential for the money! Good luck you really can not go wrong with any of the quads listed it just depends what you want out of the quad that should pro sway your decision!

well right now i am driving a 87' yamaha moto 4 225 that i got for free and fixed up so i think just about anything will be better then that. my brother has a Kawasaki prairie 650 and i would like to be able to keep up with him as far as acceleration and what not, anything more then that i dont really need. i found 2 honda 400EX's on craigslist, ones a 2000 for $2000, heres the ad 2000 Honda 400EX and the other is a 2005 for $2400 but the ad has no pictures, heres the ad 2005 Honda 400ex
what do you think? i should point out that around $2500 is my max budget
Edit: i also found a 2007 300EX for $2000 which seems like a great deal although i dont know if i should get the 400 or the 300..

The 400 would be the way to go. The 300 is a nice quad but the 400 is a 300 on steroids. Take a look at both and use your best common sense and go from there. If one has reverse (04 and newer I think) I would definitely go that rout! Good luck Happy trails!
