How does your Raptor perform in the Mud!!!
#2
Don't EVER go near what they call "BLACK MUD" that stuff will stop the BADDEST quads! To make a l o n g story short, I was going along and all of a sudden I stopped. Looked down and the mud was up to the case on the motor. I jumped off and the mud went up to my waist. After getting out of that I tried to pick up the frony end of my raptor and sank up to my arm pits. It took 5 guys and a come-a-long a little over three hours to get it out, and the whole time the raptor was sinking and I was digging. Sometimes black mud looks like plain old dirt then you hit it and takes a bite of you!!!!!!!!!!

Raptor mudding - The good, The bad....
The Good - The stock tires have the best bite of any bike I've been on for slippery muddy trails. Straddle those ruts and your tires will try hard to keep you out.
The Bad - The stock clearance SUX for deeper mud. Only 4+ inches and your dragging your skid plate. Slip into a rut and your history. Nothing worse than getting high centered have way thru a 20 wide foot puddle.
Went riding with my 16yr old son last weekend in the wet woods. I rode the Raptor and he rode the scrambler (6+ inches or clearance to sproket/gear protection plates - more clearance in between). In 3 hours, I got hung up around 10 times and he stopped only once. I had to lift my quad to get unstuck 6 or 7 of those times (mostly high centerd). He just had to hit reverse and stand on the fender to get traction to back out of the deep rut he slipped into.
When it's mud I'm after, I'll hop on my scrambler first anytime.

I'll probably go to some 20" Razors or Holeshots later in the year, but just a couple of weeks ago, I put 22" rear and 23" front Holeshot XCTs on with Douglas 10" wheels all around.
The extra clearance is really good for rutted up trails and mud. It will, however, make your Raptor set up a little taller, but it's not too bad on mine as I already have an extended axle.
