Default 98 wolverine 350

A buddy of mine has a 98 wolv. motor runs great.sounds good starts right up. no power. seems to me the motor has good power but just isn't getting to the wheels. how do you adjust the tranny. it has a clutchless six speed slap shifter . out of ideas and want to get it running better so we can go riding. thanks Seth 03

Right near the left footpeg (as you sit on it) is a slotted shaft with a locknut, with arrows that say increase/decrease. That is for freeplay in the auto clutch, you want to "decrease" until you just start to feel resistance, then back off about 1/8 turn, then hold it while you lock it down with the nut. If that does nothing, could be time for clutch plates and springs, or maybe the centrifigal clutch has very worn shoes, or missing/broken springs. Those would require you to drain the oil and take the right side engine cover off, if you do the work yourself, take a piece of cardboard and punch holes in it for the case bolts, they vary in length, and are meant to go only in certain holes, putting them in order on the cardboard will keep them in proper order. And before you start, get the gasket for that side, it usually rips when you remove the cover, or will leak when you reassemble with old one. ( I know, cheapass me tried to reuse old gasket !!)
