Default 250 raptor starter maint.

ok i have been a bit relucktent to post this but here it is.. the starer on these bikes have a bearing on the left side ( shifter side ) and a oillight bushing on the other. the problem is that they have no,or very little lube on the ( brake )side ,and the bushing wears out, then the armature for the starter runs out of round and destoys the brushes, and also lets the armatur bind on the magnets thus bad starter. so we took our apart and put some grease in the bushing side, but its a big pain , so now what we do is on the brake side of the starter in the center of the starter howsing drill threw it with a small drill bit some thing like 1/8 or big enough to get some arisoll spray grease, or oil( i used oil) shot in it,then plug it up with rtv. you will not hert anything ,because when you drill threw you will just hit the end of the starter shaft. no big deal. but the small void between that and the howseing will now have grease in it to lube the bearing

another issue is the starter button on the handle bar. every so often take some electrical contact cleaner ( with key off ) and use the little red nozzle tube on the can and stick it in the little hole on the bottom of the button houseing and at the same time push the starter button rapidly on and off,and the on off shitch. let it drain out and dry for about 10 min , water and dirt get in there and the button sometimes when you push it does't start right away. this helps prevent that.

also if you have a bigger compression piston and it is slow to turn over. put a second ground strap from the battery to the engine.and a bigger dia hot wire to the starter. problem solved.!!!!!!
