New here and need some help!!

Hey folks, my name is Ned and I live in western NC. I ride a stock 2003 Yamaha 450 Kodiak and I am having some trouble with it. Ever since I mistakenly tried to go through a mudhole at WindRock TN that was way deeper than I thought, I have have trouble with the bike. As of right now everything electrical has been checked, all connections, new coil, new plug and plug wire, everything. I have replaced the belt and had the transmission basically overhauled. So here is my problem: The bike will NOT run over 30 mph!! I could have swore when I borrowed the bike from my friend before I bought it that it went faster than that. The other thing is that the engine is absolutely tacted out when running 30. Is 30mph normal for a stock 450? You guys got any ideas of what might be causing this to happen even after having this bike basically rebuilt? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to being a member of this forum!!!

Welcome to the forums.
Possibly pulled some dirt into the carb and have clogged jet? Check link D57 provided and I'll bet you're back up to speed in no time.

Thanks for the link. When this first happened it would only go 22-23mph. I had the carb rebuilt and the new belt put on after that. That got me up to 30mph. We then found a crack in the coil and figured that was robbing my speed, so now it has a new coil but still only running 30. I will try the link, thanks again.
