After giving it much thought and reading everyones reply i came to the conclusion that my actions were wrong and that sort of thing does give us a bad name, but you have to understand one thing that when you almost get severly injured you are not thinking be nice to that person that did it or kiss and make up, it was a learning experiance and everyone helped me understand the big picture, even though you think your doing the right thing its not always right. Well anyway im going to make it a point to go up there and apoligize for my actions but i dont think im going to ask permission to access, I burnt that bridge. Oh well you live to learn.

BTW to Hunter 32 and BrokemyBanshee leave the guns at home thats how accidents happen, dont we have enough violence in this world.

Yeah...Don't take it too hard that everyone ranked on you for your actions...
Believe me..most of us have been there.
I think you got a hard time because of the limited places for most of us to ride on. We try to respect any place that lets us get our fix with the quads.
Seriously...talk to her...you might be surprised. If not...your the better person.

Congratulations, AirBanshee01.

FEW learn from their mistakes. You did, indicating progress on the path to maturity and wisdom.

Here's hoping you find some good riding areas.

While I applaud your change in thinking...I would keep in mind the type of language handled towards the lady. You could walk up to the door with good intentions and get beat to a pulp by her husband/boyfriend/etc...maybe deservingly???...they may get your name so they could take legal action!! Then again, apologizing may make everyone warm and fuzzy....maybe even get your riding area back. Anyways, if you do apologize, please post reactions. Just my 2 cents...

Nah, I dont like guns, dont have one or care to, dont own any land, I was just saying there are people out that do like their guns and feel very strongly about tresspassing on their land and stuff like that, aka reason to use the it.. Im sure nobody in their RIGHT mind would shoot somebody for just tresspassing, mabe if you ran them over and were coming back for seconds or something?! One of my friends had a banshee and he just screamed everywhere, one day he almost took out one of the larger landowners in the aera on his quad and stopped and he was rude and whatever, now most of the land he owns you cant ride on... (but Ive been his sons friend since elementary) so he cuts me some slack and lets me ride on most of his land, but most cannot. He's a nice guy, he always says yes if you ask to ride on his land but if you dont he gets ripped.. Anyways sorry for being a hard ***..

Even if the husband/boyfriend is kind of violent...he just needs to wear the whole ATVer kit (helmet, chest protector, boots)..ahahah.

Good thing to talk...although I understand you previous reaction. I hope everyone was just showing the righ way...I wouldn't say I could have had the nerve to be plite after almost dying.
Keep us informed about the reaction!!

Air... I'm happy to hear that you've decided to talk to the people. Don't worry about getting beat up when you go talk to them 'cause that would be assault and then he would be in trouble. I would plan on walking over to the house instead of riding your quad since most peope wouldn't want to see the quad and you at the same time. Maybe take your moms station wagon [makes you look like a respectable person after all can you imagine a psyco driving a wagon?] If they do start screaming at you, stand there and take it! In my job I occasionaly have to tell someone they are not going to get what they think they have coming. Occasionally they scream at the top of their lungs to show me their disappointment. By standing there and taking it I at least gain their respect for not losing it too or walking away.

AirBanshee01, you're doing the right thing by going up there to apologize, make it sincere and you might get to ride their land. Regarding the several comments referring to my statement about pulling out my pistol you'll notice that I said I'd hold someone on my land until the sheriff arrives. I didn't say I'm going to shoot someone for trespassing, but I would turn them over to the law and have them prosecuted. It's called a citizens arrest and is my right. There are differing attitudes about property rights depending upon what part of the U.S. or world you're from. Here in mississippi property rights are taken very seriously, especially when damage is done to the property. My hard line attitude results from two incidents I've had with ATVers in the past two years on remote property I own. Both times ATVers cleared trails across my property with tractors pulling bushogs. One didn't do any real damage although he did drive around my gate and posted sign to do it. The second incident was particularly blatent because they bushogged a trail through two year old planted pine trees, which are quite an investment and these jerks just cut them down. That initiated a report to the sheriff's office. Neither of these two guys has been caught, but I only reported the second incident, I have an idea who it was on the first incident but no proof.

An interesting note is that if either of these guys had asked me to use my property I'd probably have let them. I would not have let them bushog the pine trees, but other arrangements could have been made. The sheer audacity that someone would vandalize my land is what amazes me.

I'm sorry if the gun comments offended other posters but as I said before attitudes about the seriousness of trespassing differ according to locale. I see that most who took issue with my statements are from the northeast and canada, where firearms are kind of a taboo subject. Where I live guns in the truck are a normal occurance, virtually every landowner/farmer has some sort of firearm in his truck. I'd venture to say that the same is true out west on the larger ranches. Maybe that's why our crime rate is a bit lower than the northeast. I believe you'd find the same reaction as mine out of virtually any landowner in my area that caught someone vandalizing his property. God help the guy caught tearing down a wall on my uncle's 2500 acres!

Like I said, good on you for coming to your senses, maturing and apologizing to this lady. Next time don't do anything to apologize for and everyone will be a lot better off. Be aware that some people don't always see things from the same perspective as you do and will view your actions with a lot more seriousness than you feel they warrant.
