Default 05 YFZ450 header glowing red

Just picked up a 05 450 and just ran it down the street and the header pipe will glow red hot. Seems to run fine. Its all stock, so just looking for ideas of why it may be doing that. The fan didnt kick on, but the motor didnt seem too hot anyways. Im looking for ideas that arent the usual "check your jetting" answers. Like I said, its all stock and no major elevation change

This is normal for the YFZ. It uses a pretty thin walled header stock and they do tend to run lean from the factory on the pilot/needle anyway. You will never jet the "dreaded" glowing header out of one of these and still have it run halfway decently. Rest assured it is a stout motor and I wouldn't think about it again unless it shows other symptoms of running lean.

Yup, as scooter say it's normal. Do a little searching and you'll find tons of people ask this. No need to stress.

OK, good to know. I also have an 06 but it has an LRD full exhaust and I never noticed it glowing, but I havnt ran it in the dark yet, just during the day in Glamis. Ive only owned that one for a couple months. I mainly do banshees, so these 450's throw a few different curves. HA Ha Thanks for the replies

The glowing red never really phased me with my pipe, but the heat that it puts out would sometimes make my leg a little hotter than I liked sitting in the staging lanes between rounds so I put some header wrap on mine.I'm going on my 3rd year with the header wrap on the exhaust and so far it's worked well for me.
