Those honda guys are still praising the speed of their almighty 400 over there in the Honda forum.

This time someone asked how a 440EX does against a Banshee and Raptor in drags. One more time the comments started coming out about how a stock 400 can take a banshee through the first three gears so a 440 could kill it. Then more stories about that magical 416EX that hasn't lost to a Raptor or Banshee yet. Go over and take a look, its almost funny. I mean when I read someone who says that they took a Banshee in a drag on an EX, I dont even need to ask and I know that they must have raced in some sort of traction-less area.

 

Hmmmm... sounds like a lot of the Honda guys think just like the Raptor guys. It's just as funny to me that the Raptor crowd thinks that their quad's are unbeatable. There is always someone or something out there that's faster. Besides, most of the people going back and forth about how fast this or that can go have no idea how fast a really good rider can make most any bike look. But, hey, let the debate continue, it's still better than talking politics!

Did the fellow on the Banshee know that he was racing? Or was he sitting on the side of the trail having a cold one.

 

You Yamaha guys are something else. Just get it through your skulls that your Banshees and Raptors can be beat. Some of you guys must have raced some pretty slow modded 400EXs, because mine will stay right with a Raptor or piped Banshee. No, i'm not saying all of them. I'm not a brand loyal guy, so i'm not just talking out of my a$$. If the Raptor was available when i got my 400EX, i probably would have gotten that instead. What i really want to do is stuff a Banshee motor in the 400EX. Now that would be a kick a$$ quad.

 

660R01..I have nothing to gain from lying. Personally I could care less if you believe me or not. It is not a secret that 400ex's are fast off the line. If you refuse to believe that then you are in denial. Banshee's have the potential to be the fastest thing out there..with mods, that why I'm thinking about getting one.

 

the only quad that could beat a "resonable" banshee would "maybe" be a honda 250R. but i love my 87 banshee. i kicked the $hit outa my freinds piped out 2000 400 ex. i don't know where these guys think there stock ex's can beat a piped out banshee. god it makes me laugh. ha

 

thats exactly why i sold my piped 400ex for a banshee!!! the 400ex had a great low end , but lacked power there after. the banshee lacks in no gear at all. it screams through all 6. ive road a stock raptor that would slay my piped 400ex >>> no doubt. is the stock raptor faster than my modded SHEE>>> NAAAHHH. but it looks sweet as hell. i have no beef with my 400ex though, but it never gave me the adrenaline rush that my banshee gives me, and thats whats it all about. i could care less what people say about who's bike is faster, but when i hear that a 400ex or even a 440ex will smoke modded banshees,,,, i have to jump.

 

I bought a 400ex because I liked the thought of the great, proven suspension. The 400ex handles like a dream in the woods.

I knew when I bought the 400ex, that it was not the fastest bike out there. I knew I would not beat a Shee or a Raptor, and I am not claiming tht it will, because it doesn't beat either in a drag race. I will say I can beat both through the first two gears every time, after that, the party is over.

Everyone knows the 400ex has a killer bottom end, but when racing a Shee or Raptor, after 2nd gear the 400ex is just wasting gas!

Even after this has been said, I am still happy with the 400ex. I'm sure everyone else is happy with thier bike also, so there is no sense in argueing over which is the best. All of the bikes accel in one way or another, but none of them dominate all aspects of racing.

Racer18j, that has to be the best way ive ever heard it say. I was just arguing with my neighbor over this today, he has probably one of the fastest quads in this forum that can still be ridden off road, probably about 95 mph banshee (stock gearing also) and he kills me in drag, literally kills me. But quads all have good points and bad, I like the low end and easy wheelieing and great jumping abilities of the 400ex. He like the rush of going fast. Its all in what you would rather do, but we have a great time doing it.
