ATV Review: 2012 Yamaha YFZ450

 

Great looking machine, its about time they started selling them cheaper, hopefully they set a trend for the others. The Mikuni was a great addition, I'm sick of Keihin carbs. However the DS 450 still sits $500 cheaper than this new YFZ in Canada, doesn't sound like a good deal for us when you can get the most technologically advanced 450 available for cheaper than a budget model YFZ. Make them cheaper yet Yamaha!

 

I think there is a lot to be said for the fact Yamaha could bring this machine back with just a few tweaks and a lower price point. Anyone looking for a 400 and up class trail/fun quad should give this one a good, hard look. I bet it is popular with the GNCC types as well, there is a lot of love out there for the original YFZ chassis and a carbed motor amongst the xc crowd.

 

I'm curious to see how many of these Yamaha will sell -I was able to test them as well, and I was very impressed. Pretty much felt like the same machine as the older model YFZ's, but for less money. Seems to me if I was gonna buy a new quad to race, this one would be first on my list to check out.....
