After riding this afternoon, I noticed that my Raptor has a good amount of play in the steering. It appears that the play is in the inner tie rod ball joints (where the tie rods attach to the steering stem).

I'm afraid I know what the problem is, my +2" offset wheels. Has anyone else noticed excessive play in their steering? I'm looking for input for those with and without the offset wheels.

On a similar note, do the +2 a-arm kits come with new ball joints for the tie rods?

I had the exact same problem.

Tighten the nut on the bottom of the steering stem and it should solve you problem.

azlandscaper,
Did your raptor get twichy handling after you put the +2 rims on? I just did that and it gets worse the faster I go? Would toe-in pr toe-out adjustments fix it? Thanks

It was the nut at the bottom of the stem. Looked at it some more last night and found it. Thanks for the replies.

Go to your local yamaha dealer and get part #90171-14056, and a cotter key to fit the hole in the bottm of your steering stem. The part # is for a castle nut. This will solve your problem.
